Assertiveness

Are you often afraid to say “No” or express your needs? Do you find it difficult to set boundaries? Do you wonder how these difficulties might impact your life quality and experiences?

Problems with assertiveness can start in our childhood either by way of mirroring communication styles in our families of origin or experiencing negative consequences for speaking up. These can later by reinforced by negative experiences in our adult years.

While difficulties with assertiveness in and of themselves do not represent a mental health diagnosis, they can often lead to low self-esteem, problems with anger, anxiety or depression.

I approach healing in the area of assertiveness both from depth and skill perspectives. I believe that while skills can be taught, one’s inner system of beliefs should also support the application of these skills.

If you feel that your quality of life can greatly improve by learning to be more assertive, please reach out to me.
